Scenes From Harpers Ferry I

I think I mentioned how much I love, love, LOVE the town of Harpers Ferry. All the little buildings just have such a European feel to them, maybe because Harpers Ferry was settled by Europeans back in the day. The downtown is run by the National Park Service and there are a few private residences. I mentioned to Nick that it would be like living in an amusement park to live in one of these homes in a National Park.

Over the next few days I'll take you on a tour of Harpers Ferry :)

  2. WoW! I just looked it up on Google Earth & WoW! It looks gorgeous! I can certainly see why you love it... I looked at some pics on Google Earth. I saw a woman wearing an old time dress on the steps of a 'Dry Goods Store' - so do they do reenactments like in Williamsburg, Va? I'd love love LOVE to visit a town that did that, I love history, so that would be right up my alley! =)

  3. I like the multi-colored paint schemes on these unusual looking places. I can't imagine living in a park. I would like to visit their some time.

  5. Seems to me I remember Harper's Ferry from my days teaching American History. I did not know, however, about the European feel of the buildings. Lovely!

  6. I suspect it's more fun to visit than to live there. Tourists can be such a bother. :)

  7. I look forward to seeing more of Harpers Ferry. These buildings are very colorful. They remind me a little of Rainbow Row in Charleston, South Carolina.
