February Theme Day - Umbrellas

Changing of the guards, lifeguards that is...Buckroe Beach, Hampton, Va.

Another first of the month and another theme day with the City Daily Photo Blog group. Umbrellas won the vote this time around. Of course the first of the month caught me off "guard" and I had to go through the old archives for something with an umbrella. Lucky me, found this one from last summer!

Visit City Daily Photo to view more interpretations of the theme. I assure you, there will be some creative ones!

  2. Nice one!

Of course, I never even thought about lifeguards needing to change shifts. I don't think I've ever been in a beach here (and we go to different ones almost every summer) that had lifeguards.

  6. In a guarded moment, I confess that I prefer a sun umbrella to any other.

  7. It's a good thing they have that umbrella. The sun could be brutal without it.

    And I'm happy again.

  12. I still have my umbrella up from the summer, it survived the big storm in July and everything since so I decided to leave it up after all I got it at the dumpster. I have a nice umbrella photo if I can figure out how to put it on that site.

  13. Only 4 weeks of February cold to slog through, and then the promise of almost-spring in March! (OK, maybe that's stretching:) I'm so not a fan of the cold either - would love it to be as summery as this lovely shot!

  17. I used to be a lifeguard at one of the local hotel pools... a 16 year old kid dove in head 1st without putting his arms up to break the dive & he went straight to the bottom & busted his head... scary situation, but we got him out & he was rushed to the hospital & he was fine after a couple days rest! =0

  18. Our archives serve us well. The reminder that summer is around the corner is a pleasing one in these cold days of winter.
