Breckinridge Elem. School, Fincastle
Last week during Christian's baseball practice, the boys and I took a walk around the school. Found a bunch of Honeysuckle growing. A long time ago, my grandpa taught me to remove the green part on the bottom of the flower and suck the nectar out. Now my own kids can't pass up Honeysuckle without doing the same!

I love to do that, too. So glad you passed that on!
ReplyDeleteTanya, you just reminded me of something I did in my youth :). Lovely shot of a rather isolated spot for basketball practice.
ReplyDeleteLooks like they are enjoying it too!
ReplyDeleteYep. We sucked out the nectar too when we were kids. So sweet and wonderful!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful tradition!
ReplyDeleteWe did it too - like free food (we thought, as kids). How great that you passed this on to your kids. I always wonder on things like this, Who figured it out first??
ReplyDeletethat's cute. :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that!
ReplyDeleteI remember doing that - boy, it's been a long time. I think I need to find some honeysuckle!
ReplyDeleteI always did that when I was growing up....loved it! So sweet! However, as an adult, I just can't get myself to see if it still tastes like I remember it...and I have a honeysuckle vine growing on my fence! It's nearly 20 years old now.
ReplyDeleteI remember doing that:) B
ReplyDeleteI've never heard that before and what a lovely family tradition to pass on to your sons.
ReplyDeleteThat is cute. I don't think I would recognize honeysuckle.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, can you believe I've been around honeysuckle for years starting with childhood and didn't know that? I guess I was too busy sniffing that wonderful aroma. Love honeysuckle, it's one of my favorite scents.
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine the aroma.
