Now for some randoms:
1) If you put the word "Amish" in front of a recipe, I'm all in. It could be Amish Tacos and I'm pinning it!
2) Found out this week that someone I know died. Then I found out he killed himself by setting himself on fire. Someone else I know told me about this last month but neither of us had any idea that it was this person. We were both bothered by the news. Then just found out yesterday that it was someone we knew. He was only 61 and battled depression. Makes me so sad to think of anyone that down to take their life, especially in that way. I can't get him out of my mind.
3) Summer is flying by. I love summer. I'm one of those moms that love having my kids at home...no schedules...just lazy summer mornings, staying up late, doing whatever we want. We have a short summer this year. The powers that be changed our school schedule. Everyone says "It's ok, we'll get out earlier next year so it makes up for the short summer"...I disagree. I want my full summer, I don't want to catch up next year. But remember this post because you can tell me "Told you so" when I'm excited that school is out in May ;)
4) I was reading something about food trucks and their popularity. When I was a kid, for a short time, my mom drove a food truck. It wasn't a fancy food truck, more like a mobile convenience store. It was so cool when she'd bring it home and make me and my friends fancy cokes! I remember going out with her on her route one day. I remember being very bored. I also remember her boss had a pet monkey. The things we remember!
5) Speaking of monkeys, Braden and Dalton want a pet monkey. They scour the internet looking to buy one. Not.Gonna.Happen
Have a great weekend!
Now it's your turn!

Now it's your turn!
I wanted a pet monkey too. Never got it either ;)
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear about your friend. I have lost two friends due to depression. It is hard to lose someone under normal circumstances, doubly sad when it is due to suicide.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry, that's a terrible way to go.
ReplyDeleteTell the boys you already have two. :-)
ReplyDeletesorry to hear about your friend passing. that is so so sad.
ReplyDeletei have never heard of Amish Tacos - now i want them. what do they taste like? i need more details. ( :
I can see you traveling around with a monkey, maybe get a parrot for your shoulder as well.
ReplyDeleteBack in the day a pet monkey sounded like a good idea. Now? Not so much! I'm so sorry about your friend. Depression is a horrible disease.
ReplyDeleteYou'll need to talk them into a goat instead. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'll be sure to post an Amish recipe in the near future.
What horrific news about that person's suicide.
what a terrible way to kill oneself. the agony... i am sorry.
ReplyDeleteno pet monkeys! :)
That 4:20 booth is funny.
ReplyDeleteI always wanted a monkey too and I gave my Mom a hard time about it. A few years ago she gave me a stuffed monkey that makes a racket when you shake it….you might want to find one for the boys! So sad about your friend who passed away; depression must be so horrible to deal with.
Enjoyed reading your random thoughts. Definately NO no monkey!!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I don't see my comment so I'll try again.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about your friend. My friend of my daughter ended her life recently and she was suffering from depression and had been for years. She left behind a loving husband, 2 wonderful children and a close knit family. Everyone is still in shock because they had no clue she would do such a thing.
Now I'm off to see about putting together a blog post!
Sorry to hear about the passing of your friend. I think we never really understand the struggles of others.
ReplyDeleteMost kids want a dog or a cat, maybe a parrot, but a monkey? Mind you I had pet mice as a kid but they didn't make very good pets.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about your friend. I live with depression, and while it's been bad, it's never gone that far. I did have a friend who took his own life, after years dealing with schizophrenia.
ReplyDeleteI have known personally a couple people that have killed themselves and I just wonder what makes it so bad that, that is your only solution. So sad!
ReplyDeleteso sad, what a terrible sorry about your friend!!
ReplyDeleteThey have a great name for their business!
ReplyDeleteSmoking accessories? How rare. Know very few people who smoke any more. They either suffered life threatening consequences, or have just given it up as too dangerous, socially unacceptable, or obnoxious.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your friend. As I age I hear of people's deaths more frequently. It happens, but seldom in so gruesome a way.
The really sadness with suicide is the pain it leaves with loved ones, and your friends choice of method would create nightmares for everyone. So very sorry for you and all. As for the monkeys, they give me the creeps...I'll not see planet of the apes. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about your friend.
ReplyDeleteYour summer days with kids sounds delightful. Seems the summers keep getting shorter.
When I was a young girl, there was an organ grinder with a monkey at the shopping mall. If you gave the monkey a coin, he would tip his hat!
I love your randoms. Maybe one of the city daily photo themes should focus on the text "RANDOMS" and let the photo be whatever. Loved the comment about Amish. Amish Polish Sausage. the opportunities are endless!
ReplyDeleteI do have an idea that these 'accessories' are not all about cigs.
ReplyDeleteOH DEAR! A pet monkey sounds...chaotic!
ReplyDeleteLol at Birdman's comment. Sorry about your friend.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your friend Tanya ...Hug
ReplyDeleteA pet monkey oh don't go there my girls wanted a pet horse and vowed to take care of it, we did not fall for that.Hug B
If I told you I found an Amish monkey, would you buy it?
ReplyDeleteWonderful Willy Nilly Friday Five! Sorry though to hear about the suicide. That was so very sad. Glad you are enjoying summer with your kids though. We have that early start here in AZ for school...Aug 7. That just seems TOO ridiculous to me!
