Boone's Mill . Franklin County

Do you say "yard sale" or "yard sell" or something other? I say "yard sale" but hear a lot of people around here say "yard sell"...I don't know if it has something to do with the accent because I also heard it like that in Georgia...maybe I've been saying it wrong all along haha

Linking up with Tom's Tuesday's Treasures

  1. Yard sale and also garage sale here in Ontario, Canada.

  2. ...I'm with Andy on this one! On persons trash is another's treasure they say. Thanks Tanya for stopping by.

  3. We have garage sales which imply the merchandise is located primarily in a garage. We also have yard sales which imply the merchandise is located primarily in a yard. Most of the time they're all mixed up and the terms are used interchangeably. I like to browse these place and have found some treasures - like an Elgin watch I paid $2.00 for and find now that it's worth almost $400. :)

  4. We say garage sale and having done them, they are not worth the effort. People like to nickel and dime you.

How about a boot sale in the UK?

  5. Garage sale or yard sale. I rarely go to these.

  6. I have only heard "Yard sale". Oh my, that house! And look at those skinny windows, all shuttered up. I hope they made enough money to fix the place up.

  7. Here they are called "boot sales". People have their items in the boot of the cars and they are usually set up in a parking lot. They occur occasionally but not often but when they do, lots of people show up.

  8. In the midwest it is "Yard Sale." Oddly with yard sales and garage sales yards and garages are not for sale.

  9. I've always seen it yard or garage "sale". Sometimes I'll see on social media where someone says "I have X for sell" or "I want to sale X". I take that more as being a misunderstanding of grammar. Cool old house in your photo, too!
