The Partridge Family Bus

Inkular Gallery . 25286 VH Goode Hwy . Boones Mill . 24065

Taking you back to September of 2017...I forgot to show this neat bus to you...we were just driving along when I saw it and asked Nick to turn back around so I could get a picture...there was no place to really pull over (unless we had stopped at the gallery, which I didn't know what it was at the time so we didn't...guess I didn't notice the sign at the time haha)...but it made me think of the bus from the Partridge Family!...

I had a Partridge Family lunch box in about 1st grade...man I wish I still had that!

One last quick shot!

100 Easy Street . Boone's Mill . Franklin County

ca. 1920

Took this picture a couple of weeks ago when we were at the Boone's Mill Apple Festival ...the police officer is directing traffic...I liked the look of the building but didn't know anything till now, which is still next to nothing haha...it appeared to be vacant and I'd like to go poke around one of these days!

I found an old photo on the town's website HERE and if you scroll down it is 4th from the bottom, taken in the 1930's...I love old photographs don't you?!

Saw this little couple at the Apple Festival over the weekend. They looked like they were enjoying themselves while snacking on a slice of watermelon and people watching :)

Yard Sale

Boone's Mill . Franklin County

Do you say "yard sale" or "yard sell" or something other? I say "yard sale" but hear a lot of people around here say "yard sell"...I don't know if it has something to do with the accent because I also heard it like that in Georgia...maybe I've been saying it wrong all along haha

The Love Bug

Boone's Mill . Franklin County

On Saturday we went to the Boone's Mill Apple Festival ...maybe I am missing something because I didn't see any apples but I did see Herbie and that's kind of better right?!

I found this groovy old Love Bug trailer from 1969!

Isn't this clip so wholesome?!

I remember seeing this film as a kid and then the remake with my kids! I should see if I can find the original online to watch with the kids...I doubt they would appreciate it though...

Signs, Signs & A Good Fence @ Sparks Cemetery

Yesterday was so nice out so the boys wanted to I wanted to go to the Booker T Washington National Park and walk the trails. We picked up some sandwiches and picnicked outside the park then started on the Jack-O-Lantern trail:
Click Here for interesting info on the trail and how it got its name.

Towards the end of this trail, coming up the ridge I saw this:
I have never seen this little cemetery before so I had to investigate!

This little marker was the only one I could barely make out:
The only words I can see are "Sid Dide August 1823"...I think...

I was going to ask about the cemetery in the park's visitor's center but they were busy with a large group so I just came home and Googled it. Little is known about the cemetery, but oral tradition has it to be "Sparks" and perhaps having been a slave cemetery. It was in use before the Burroughs purchased the property in the mid-nineteenth century.

Some interesting reading Here and Here

I've shown you around Booker T before HERE
