Different architectural styles

I loved everything that was built in stone though

The Azaleas were blooming everywhere

4)
Beautiful trees...many were very old

A few tidbits: School got out on Tuesday. Braden and Dalton graduated 8th grade...hard to believe they will be in high school this year.
I just took Ozzy outside a little bit ago and saw lightning bugs...the first of the season!

That's my 5 peeps! Now it's your turn...post 5 randoms, link back and visit others! Thanks for playing along and have a great weekend!

Tuesday's Treasures - Duke Chapel

Duke University Chapel . Durham NC

Construction started in 1930 and was completed 2 years later...wow! Isn't it beautiful? We weren't able to tour it as it is currently undergoing some restoration work...We'll get back down there and see the inside eventually!

Click Here for the chapel's website and see some great old photos of the constuction.

Through My Lens - A Protest @ Duke University

Last Saturday while in Durham we went to Duke University to see the Chapel...we stumbled upon a protest...

I think all the protestors were inside the tents as it was very cold/windy this day...there's the chapel in the background...

Found an article online that this protest is about an "alleged felony hit-and-run" that took place 2 years ago ...you can read about it HERE

I will show you around the chapel tomorrow!

This week my 5 will be from the beautiful Duke Gardens!

1)
Last Saturday we took a little day trip down to Raleigh....some of you might remember we have found a taco shop there that makes Southern California Mexican food, which we miss. We left San Diego in 2001 and the Mexican food is what we miss most...it just isn't duplicated anywhere else.....nobody understands our plight...except for other transplanted Southern Californians.

2)
We had our lunch in Raleigh then back tracked to Durham and visited Duke University. Here we are at the Sarah P. Duke Gardens.

3)
I remember Tulips being my grandma's favorite.

4)
But honestly, I think of Camellias more when I think of my Grandma. She had several beautiful Camellia bushes...she also grew Tulips in her garden but the Camellias really stick out in my memory.

5)
I want to plant a whole bunch of Tulips here at our new house along the front porch in memory of my Grandma...maybe even a few Camellias in the backyard.

1 more shot from the gardens:
Your's truly and my husband Nick...tomorrow we will have been together for 34 years...that's when we started dating...in 10th grade! Crazy!

That's my 5 this week and I hope you will join in! It's easy, post 5 randoms, link back, visit others!! Thank you so much for visiting and playing along!
