PNC's Living Mural on 5th Ave, Downtown Pittsburgh
Below this 2,380 square foot living mural is a plaque that says:
The largest green wall in North America at the time of it’s construction, the PNC Green Wall was installed as part of The PNC Financial Services Group’s ongoing commitment to the environment. It is intended to save energy, enhance the neighborhood, and demonstrate the benefits of green design.
The 602 soil–filled panels mitigate the temperature difference between the building’s interior and exterior by providing a thick insulating layer, shading, and evaporative cooling. This reduces resource use, operating costs, and PNC’s carbon footprint.

ReplyDeletehow very cool!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's green in a number of senses. Looks good too. Fine post.
ReplyDeleteWell that is a first for me. I've seen a lot of murals in my travels but this one is unique. Gee, I'll be going through Pennsylvania in the fall, just not so sure I want to pass through downtown Pittsburgh though.
ReplyDeleteWow, the first living mural I've seen - perhaps my favorite one!:)
ReplyDeleteI have never seen anything like this before. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteOh that is truly amazing. B
ReplyDeleteHow amazing. I too have never seen anything like this before. Fantastic!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love it. it would be great to have such walls on your own place.
ReplyDeleteSeriously a cool thing.
ReplyDeleteI agree, too cool for words.
ReplyDeleteI do believe this is the first living mural posted on this meme. I've seen these kinds of walls before but never with an all over design. And I didn't know the benefits to having a living wall. So I thank you twice. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
ReplyDeleteWonder if they will cool houses this way someday.
ReplyDeleteAmazing!
ReplyDeleteVery, very neat. I've seen these on a much smaller scale and not on a skyscraper, and not anywhere near as nice as this one. I have to wonder how they keep it up. I guess its just like window washing.
