Random 5 Friday from Staunton

Looking at the town of Staunton from above the train station.

1) Staunton is one of my favorite towns. Love all that old architecture.

2) I can't stand when people brag. I wonder what is wrong with them that makes them need to do it.

3) Christian needed a new pair of shoes. Checked him out of school a little early yesterday so we could hit the mall. I love spending some one on one time with my kids. We had a good time. Laughed a lot.

4) Talk about laughing, watched The Heat last night. Melissa McCarthy is probably one of the funniest people ever. I just love her.

5) My yard has become the gathering place for every loose dog in the neighborhood. Don't know what's going on. Seems like everytime I take Ozzy out, there's another dog in the yard.

  12. I haven't been to Staunton yet. Your photo across the rooftops is great. One on one with our kids is the best :) I don't like bragging either, not many I know of do. I think those who do brag must have low self-esteem and it bolsters them up for a little while. I have thought of renting that movie. After reading about it here I think I will.

  15. Staunton does look like a fun place; very colorful! That blue sky is stunning. Since we have three dogs, our yard is not on anyone's gathering place list! :-)

  16. Hi Tanya ~~ It is nice to be alone with one child, isn't it? A doctor recommended do this to Mrs. Jim and me. It helped a problem that had come up.

Ozzy probably puts out her calling card. Our Katrin, toy poodle, was so happy to see that the neighbor, Duke, was back for the winter and had left his calling card also. It was in the front yard by the driveway and now she would rather go out front than in the back. But when I take her to the back she looks/sniffs for his card.

  17. I have been up there, I think there is a park up the hill further. Those were pre civil war tracks that went through there, an old area for sure.

  18. Staunton is a pretty town…have been there a few times in my life…you captured its colourful architecture beautifully! One on one time with your kids when they are young is the best! One on one time with your adult kids is pretty cool too!

  19. Neat shot of the colorful buildings! It seems our yard is the gathering place for all the neighborhood dogs (and cats) too. I wonder what the deal is? :)

  26. I think braggarts are either very insecure or conceited, that hits both ends of the spectrum... love that shot of Stauton, the red buildings really pop...

  27. Braggin' a bitch, especially when best friend do it to your face. That's troubling to me.

  28. Love how those colorful buildings pop against that pretty blue sky! How did you manage to clamber up onto the roof of the train station to get this? I'm enjoying an image of you sneaking up an exterior fire escape with your camera to snap elicit skyline photos. :-)

All the habitual braggarts I've known have been compensating for insecurity. Doesn't make it less annoying, but does make it sad. One of my grandfathers was that way.

Oh shopping with a boy, bet that is different. Coleen is growing so fast her mom and Grandma too can barely keep her in clothes.
We get lots of neighborhood cats in our area begging for food.
