3:30 p.m. We weren't supposed to see any snow from this storm. This was the big southern storm that was just going to bring snow to the south and east of us. It started to snow about the time I had to go pick Christian up from school and take to work....Here I am waiting in the school pick up line....little snowflakes are falling...

8:30 p.m. Here I am picking Christian up from Kroger. What a scary drive. We only live about 10 minutes away but the roads were all covered in snow. I white knuckled it all the way there, driving very slow. Yes, I'm one of those drivers ;)
Got the text "Botetourt County Schools are CLOSED on Wednesday". Yay! That made a bunch of kids happy!

8:30 a.m. this morning. I think we must have ended up with a couple of inches in the end! So much for forecasting the weather!
Linking with ABC Wednesday and check out some more pictures representing the letter C!

Keep warm seems like the cold will linger a little bit on us. The sun is up here in Michigan but the temp is way almost to 0F!

No school here today, the main roads are clear but the back roads are still icy and snow on top of that so my slick tires are not worth fooling with so I am home today. On a normal snow day it would be melting by now but is was still below 10 F last I looked. Maybe some photos today and not of patio furniture, lol!
ReplyDeleteat least you can stay in today. :)
ReplyDeleteIt really came down yesterday. I was supposed to work in the afternoon, but got halfway to town and saw how much the snow had covered secondary roads in the matter of 15 minutes, and called in and cancelled. They let out school early, and the bus driver was harried when she showed up, from driving in the snow. Glad they made it home safely!
ReplyDeleteHave a fun day with the kids home! Driving on snowy and icy roads is no fun, in fact it's scary. It's supposed to get above zero here today!
ReplyDeleteIf you are not used to snow, it can be a scary thing. We have had a mild winter here in Kansas, last year we had around 30 inches. It's broken the temperature record though and that bitter cold can be horrible. Stay in and hopefully it will be gone soon.

Oh Tanya I love the pics of snow I know it is not fun to drive in but I love seeing it. We had about six or more inches last night. In the bush is probably two to three feet. Happy me:) Hug B
ReplyDeleteIt's very pretty, especially since you all get to stay home today! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is always how it starts out. Innocent snowfall in the beginning and over night, you can't find your car anymore! :)
ReplyDeleteWe weren't supposed to get any and yet I woke up to an inch of the new stuff on the ground.
ReplyDeleteWe got slammed again last night, too. The forecasters sure got that one wrong. No school here, either. They are going to be going to class until mid June if this keeps up. Thank goodness I am OUT! Sorry you all had to drive in it. I would have been white knuckling it, too. Glad you guys made it safe and sound.
ReplyDeleteIt looks nice, for a while. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteThe kids are certainly pleased, closed schools and lots of snow :-)
ReplyDeleteHere there is only snow in the north of the Netherlands, and we have only rain!
ReplyDeleteTake care!

There weren't calling for much in the Altavista area, either, but we got about 2 inches. It started snowing in the a.m., but didn't start really sticking until afternoon. By the time I drove home at around 6 p.m., the roads were covered and it was rather treacherous. My hubby came out and followed me home. It wasn't far, but I was white-knuckled too. I love it when the weather people get it wrong this way. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou had it worse than we in Albany, NY. Cold (low single digits) but no snow, no closings.

The weatherman is so often wrong! No sign of any of the white stuff here, I'd love a day off to frolic around in the snow but that wouldn't happen...
ReplyDeletemy in-laws live on the coast of VA & got snow ... it is wild & does not happen that often. we woke up to snow. not as much as i would have hoped for ... but fun all the same. i know kids love - i remember those days. super awesome!! until it is time to make up those missed days. boo. ( :
ReplyDeleteYou did get some snow! Stay safe! I know it's horrible driving in those conditions.
ReplyDeleteFrom the snowy north where your snowfall would be just a little skiff - but then we are used to snow and ice and winter driving.
ReplyDeleteHope you got a boat load of snaps for us ! Be careful out there !
ReplyDeleteSnow is more scary in the South than it is here because a lot of us have snow tires. Yep, they make a HUGE difference. ;))
ReplyDeleteOur weather forecasts have been all over the place this month. Glad you enjoyed your snow day!
ReplyDeleteThe winter storms in the South have made the news here today. For us, that would be just another day in the winter, but down there, it's a whole different situation.
ReplyDeleteFor people unfamiliar with snow, this would be a concern.
ReplyDeleteIt has been a weird and cold winter for the east! We have been in Texas and on the way back to Massachusetts for the last couple weeks. We haven't seen much snow but lots of winter!
ReplyDeleteBe careful out there! I'm amazed you were able to unclench your fingers enough to take a picture. Glad you did though!
ReplyDeleteThis year it has been excessive snowfall. Keep yourself warm.
ReplyDeleteI would not have liked to have been out driving in those conditions. No doubt the children were cheery that school was closed.
