  3. The soldiers handsome outfits were so wasted on war-this is a nice memorial to them, and the deer adds a gentle touch to the history of the place.

  4. I have always loved these type of fences. The deer seems to pause for a moment in recognition of the historical side of this piece of land.

  7. What a fine post for a 4th of July weekend. Lovely photos. That field looks like it hasn't changed much since 1781. Amazing.

  8. Great piece of history that I would lvoe to visit one day. Virginia is going to be our first stop when the dh retires...so many of his ancestors lived there.
