The bison are down. I've heard buffalo meat is quite good but have not had a chance to taste it yet.
I think I asked you this before, but the name, Breese, is so familiar...and I recall a few years back I got an email from a woman in your part of the country who said her relative, named Breese, had the same 12 DNA markers as I did and could we be related. But none of the other names were familiar.
Obviously, there is a connection, but probably quite distant.
Do you remember any of this or am I thinking of another Breese? Does Lowell Anderson mean anything?
Tanya - I got rather excited last night watching our UK news on Channel 4. They had a reporter in Roanoke covering the presidential election showing lots of shots outside!!!! So I saw for myself how your weather is and it was just fun to think I know someone who lives there. Now to this photo - Brilliant!
That is so cool you can see buffalo right in your neck of the woods! They seem quite mellow, even if they're not roaming:) (Your photo must've made everyone think of that song!:)
What a nice photo! I have had a buffalo burger before, but did not care for it.
Haha... I lived in Virginia for 15 or so years. First in the VA Beach area and then in Colonial Heights. My husband retired from the Army and we came back home to SW Georgia. I don't miss those Nor'easters nor snow. The heat and humidity is bad here, but with an ac I can handle it :-)
I'm assuming that these guys understand that single strand of "goosey wire"? We have one buffalo farm in the adjoining county. The owners have turned it into a tourist destination and restaurant. The babies are as cute as can be.
I remember eating "buff steak" in Nepal when i was young...but I don't eat any meat at all these days. Great pic... i like the way you edited the grass and the way the fences weave across the picture.
I dropped in to express my appreciation of the comment you left for Philippe Morin at his 'Life in Inuvik' blog up in the North West Territories of Canada. It chuffed me no end to see that you followed the IN FOCUS story right to the source.

ReplyDeleteAha, they are having a lazy day, maybe nap time! This is so picturesque!
ReplyDeleteSomebody took a trip to Paint Bank! I haven't been there in about 10 years. Did you eat at the Swinging Bridge?
ReplyDeleteMy son recently tried bison...he said it's pretty tasty. Personally, I would hate to eat something that was almost extinct once.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great mean to measure time and life. Years since last I saw alike. Please have a good weekend.

ReplyDeleteI thought last week when I photographed yesterday's blog photo. It was indeed a funky fence.
ReplyDeletethat should have included---- I thought of you last week...
ReplyDeleteI like the different directions the fences are going in, and in the middle, resting cows. Very nice!
