Friday Fences
1) I love Crepe Myrtles. The color in my photo is my favorite. When we lived in Georgia, our little town of Monroe held a Crepe Myrtle Festival every summer.
2) I took the photo above right down the road from the Blue Ridge Vineyard while we were there on Sunday.
3) I dislike when websites or blogs have music that auto plays when you visit. I was just reminded of that as I was getting the link for the vineyard and almost jumped out of my chair when the music blasted on.
4) Tomorrow is a Bacon Festival in Roanoke. We're going to go. It's a good month for festivals. Last weekend was Wing Fest and now Bacon Fest.
5) I'm sitting here enjoying my coffee, being the first one up. I have to get the boys up in about a half an hour. I need my quiet time before I jump into breakfast and lunch making!
Random 5 Friday
Have a great Labor Day weekend!

ReplyDeletei love crepe myrtles, too. they almost make the summer heat worthwhile! ;) enjoy your coffee. i love festivals ... lots of good people watching!
ReplyDeleteAt one point I had music on a website but after a bit I got rid of it. I agree. Not every one has the same taste. I am up early and often on the computer early in the morning. I like the silence and quiet sounds then and I don't like them disturbed with other noise.
ReplyDeleteSuch the beautiful garden of the lovely flowers...
ReplyDeletetotally agree about 3 - not come across many recently but then I have the volume mute on by default only turning it on when I actually choose to - I used to post comments on blogs that did that and got quite a few - don't care responses.
ReplyDeletemmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Bacon!
ReplyDeleteI have been trying to get a crepe myrtle to grow in my yard...on the second one now...so far so good! I don't like the music on blogs either. At one time a while back I did have music on mine..but took it off!
ReplyDeleteI love crepe myrtles too- they are so pretty! I'm with Birdman...did you say bacon???
ReplyDeleteOh how I remember having to get the boys up...I miss that chore now with cats who wake me up. I've got another view of the Blue Ridge on my post today!
ReplyDeleteLove that shot and quiet time with coffee and bacon fest sounds good to me. Have a nice long weekend Tanya. B
ReplyDeleteCrepe Myrtle: I cut my wife's down, thought it was a weed bush, which it is if you can't eat anything on it. Anyway it came back up and seems to be more of them now.
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely scene.
ReplyDeleteCrepe Myrtles are beautiful trees. I don't think they grown around here though.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely shot. The air looks so clear.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy crepe myrtles, too. I bet that festival in Monroe was nice. I hope you have fun at the Bacon Festival. I'm not a big bacon fan, but my husband is. Once he hears about it, he might want to go!
i'm with you on the auto-music. scares the bejeebers out of me! :) i like that hot fuschia color, too.
ReplyDeleteWineries... Bacon... Crepe Myrtle... Life is good!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous dash of rich colour!
ReplyDeletei enjoy my quiet time 2. some days i need lots of it too! ha. ha!! ( :
ReplyDeleteI really like crepe myrtles, too! And I agree on the auto music thing.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty Crepe Myrtles.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on the crepe myrtles and the auto music thing. I just get off the music sites asap. And the Bacon Festival! What a concept!
ReplyDeleteThose crape myrtles are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI don't think crepe myrtle is hardy in New England. That would be our loss.
ReplyDeleteAnd I mute the sounds when I visit blogs for exactly that reason. Though, one blogger whom I visit has exceptionally good taste in music, so I sometime in mute on her blog to listen to what she has chosen. Just that one exception.
I'd love to go to a Bacon Festival! It's one of my favorite foods and I love the smell of it frying. Yum, yum!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about the music. I just keep my computer volume down when I'm reading blogs, so I won't be scared out of my wits! Haha!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Beautiful colors.
ReplyDeleteyou used your quiet time very well: posting, blogging, and enjoying coffee in solitude!
ReplyDeleteThat's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLucky girl! I love those trees/bushes. We don't have those in Vancouver or England. Quiet time is very important. Good for you to find some. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely trees -- I'm surprised they are blooming now. How wonderful.
ReplyDeleteAnd I hear you about the morning quiet time -- it's awesome.
Happy weekend to you Tanya and thank you for sharing at R5F this week. xo
Thank you for joining in 'Rurality Blog Hop #29' Hope to see you next Wednesday for #30...
ReplyDeleteI love crepe myrtles too, they are so pretty! The Bacon Festival coincides with International Bacon Day today! :)
ReplyDeleteLovely scene! I like crepe myrtles. We planted one this spring and already it is blooming, even though it is still short.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blooming trees, Tanya! I don't think we have these here, maybe it's too hot for them...
ReplyDeleteHi Tanya! Oh, how I miss those crepe myrtles! Your photo is so lovely! Loved the Random 5 too. Mom was just out your way and posted photos of her jaunt to the mountains. I am drooling, you two!

ReplyDeleteI especially love crepe myrtles, too! And I love the mountains in the background of your picture. I have a son in Blacksburg Va. The mountains will be gorgeous in the Fall. Glad to find your blog today.
ReplyDeleteI like your crepe myrtles also. We had several at our former home. The starter tree was a gift from a friend of mine, he died now at age 99.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure if this is your newest post or not. Google Plus gives me fits and only a hint of where to look.
Thanks for dropping in on me, Jim
