When was this built you ask? Well I don't know. Another great old place that I can't find anything on unless maybe I want to dig 20 pages deep in my google search that just wants to show me page after page of home sales at Kelso Mill or Burger King and Kroger popping up in there for some reason... BUT....I'm not going to whine through a whole post about it again today, I'll spare you...so I'll just put the picture up and shut my mouth ;)
And about the other mill I posted, the only thing I heard back was from a worker in the museum who would only tell me they had some books with the mill mentioned. Wouldn't tell me anything else and I never heard from the historical society or the few others I emailed....gosh, I do sound whiney!

It sounds like the Bedford historical people don't really give a crap about the mill, maybe if it were closer to poplar forest?
ReplyDeleteI feel like I have been by today's location but I don't remember how or when, it looks like a neat place though.
I would have thought by the age of the mill it would be on the heritage list Tanya ?
ReplyDeleteI love the way you catch things in this area.
ReplyDeleteHi Tanya,
ReplyDeleteI did a little digging and found the following link with a very brief history of the mill. Once you visit the link, scroll down to entry 20.1. http://www.mtnlaurel.com/backroads/635-bearwallow-gap-backroads-tour.html. Hope you enjoyed the area.
'i whine for history'...tanya breese. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is disappointing that the historical society were so unco-operative. I have found them to be sometimes a little too excited at my interest and go on and on with way more information than I cared to know :) Sometimes, mind, not always.
ReplyDeleteI do like all the signs! Too bad there's not more history readily available.
ReplyDeleteOh, there's a story here for sure. It sounds like your Nancy Drew skills are being tested to the hilt:) Great signs!
ReplyDeleteWonder if going inside and interviewing whomever is there would yield any results?
ReplyDeleteIt bugs me too, when I put forth effort to research and cannot come up with much if anything at all... love this place... reeks of history!
ReplyDeleteInteresting summarized statement about this place..........nice post.
ReplyDeleteYou're on a roll finding places with no apparent background information! Very unusual in today's Internet world.
ReplyDeleteI admire your persistence in trying to find out more about these historic buildings.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for joining in at TM this week Tanya.
Researching can be a frustrating experience, I agree.
