Appalachian Trail
We are fortunate that we live close to a few of the Appalachian Trail heads. In this picture is Tinker Hill, taken from our pasture. Yesterday we hiked it. It took a good hour and a half to get up and probably another hour to get down.
The trees were still mostly green going up the hill. We'll have to take the hike again next month as the leaves begin to change to reds, yellows and oranges.
It was a beautiful hike and I'll share more pictures from the trail during the week :)

ReplyDeleteit makes a delightful walk is very beautiful, pending the result of the ballad.
Hiking is always such fun. I'm looking forward to viewing more of your adventure.
ReplyDeleteLooks like lovely countryside.
ReplyDeleteIt 's always been on my bucket list to walk the trail. Lately I've been listening to Bill Bryson's "A Walk in the Woods" on tape as I walk my neighborhood. It's not the same but it's brought me closer. Beautiful shot, I really like it.
ReplyDeleteHiking always brings such an inner peace...at least for me. You leave the troubles of everyday life behind just for those few hours. I can't wait to see the other photos!
ReplyDeleteI've only walked a very short portion of the trail, and I'm sure it is gorgeous this time of year.
ReplyDeleteHello You !
ReplyDeleteNice ballad, yes !
And... after ???
See You later...
How fortunate for you to have the AT so close. I have to drive to the Smokies to hike it.
ReplyDeleteSooooo cool that you are so close to the AP! Even better that you took advantage of it! :)
ReplyDeleteI have read a lot of accounts of people walking the Appalachian Trail and wonder what it would be like. Your photo makes that part of it near you look great.

ReplyDeleteThats a hike I wouldnt mind taking. Most of my "hikes" are around the track at the park.
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful view!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful spot & looks like great weather for a Sunday hike. One of the funniest books I've listened to was Bill Bryson's adventures on the Appalachian Trail - I might just listen to that one again. I also remember pondering an old National Geographic map of the trail, hoping to hike some of it - maybe someday.
ReplyDeleteGreat. I'm really looking forward to seeing your photos of the walk. I find photographing while hiking is very rewarding, makes me look at things more closely than when I do just hiking without a camera.
ReplyDeleteI'm lucky to live near holss and next to a nature reserve. Great for walking, obsering nature and just escaping. Love to see more of this beautiful area.
ReplyDeleteNice to see the Appalachian Trail in photos. I've hiked a bit of it in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Mount Katahdin where the trail begins (or ends) is some hike, as I recall! Thanks for the memories
ReplyDeleteI will be looking forward to the next photos! Must be so good to be there and walk among the trees... I miss hiking...
