SkyWatch Friday
I won't be able to visit much the next couple of days. If you remember, or not, on Saturday we are having some people over that I am excited to meet! The man who built our house was Colonel Sperry and there is a Sperry reunion this weekend and Col Sperry's descendents are going to come and walk through the house he built. It should be fun but I've got much to do to get ready for their visit!
Did I tell you about this strange twist of fate? You may know that I love genealogy and have a genealogy blog that you can access from here. Well, looking through our tree, I noticed my husband has a Mary Sperry that was from this same area. I contacted my new found Sperry friends and asked them and this Mary Sperry is related to Jacob Sperry who built our house, weird isn't it? I *think* her parents were Jacob's GG Grandparents, or something like that, I'll write it down when they come over. Although Nick is only related through marriage, Mary Sperry married into Nick's Dugan line, still it's weird and pretty cool huh?!
Back on track, for more skywatch photos from all over the world, see SKYLEY
Happy SkyWatch :)

ReplyDeleteHi Tanya...have a nice weekend with all the Sperry visitors. That's a very interesting story...it's cool how things work out like that sometimes!
ReplyDeleteInteresting to find out this heritage. Was it fate, of happenstance that brought you to the Sperry home?
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely blue sky and what an interesting find in your family history
ReplyDelete:-Daryl
th sky is too blue i'm jalous
ReplyDeleteI guess if you go back far enough we're all related, which looking at some people I find a little scary:)
ReplyDeleteVery nice.
ReplyDeleteHey T! Have a great weekend with the "relatives"!
ReplyDeleteAfter I was reading about the Sperry's in your blog, I think it triggered something and so I went back to look in DH's line and sure enough, way back in the 1700's there is a Catherine Sperry that I'm researching, from Frederick Co., VA. BUT, I've done some quick digging and apparently, she may not be in our line, as there is some speculation that the dates don't match up and that the Catherine Sperry referenced is in fact, a Catherine Anderson/Enderson.
Things that make you go hmmmmmm.
Have a great weekend!
Very pretty SWF photo. The blue of the sky and the flowers in the foreground are lovely. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful shot and interesting story too.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great weekend with your house reunion.
ReplyDeleteGreat sky photo today! That genealogy sounds fascinating!
ReplyDeleteLove the pink flowers on the lamp post and that bit aboout your house and the Sparrs too.
ReplyDeleteNice picture and what a small world. Have a great weekend with the Sperries.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting how houses have a geneology too -- not just people. We learnt lots of new stories about our home when an old lady called in to look at it -- her grandparents used to live here. I am sure you will have a great time over the weekend.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing coincidence!
ReplyDeletegreat eye to grab this.
ReplyDeleteNot only a good photo but a very weird twist of fate! That is very spooky. I love things like this. Enjoy your weekend :)
