More snow on the way for us tonight. They are calling for 2-4 inches but say it could be more ha...I say bring it! Although I have to take my vehicle in to be serviced shortly. Hope I will have it back before the snow starts!

Sorry I've been scarce...I WILL visit!!

Rubbish Tuesday - Andrew Johnston House

Terrible photo but I wanted to show you the house since it was in the mural from yesterday. We pulled up and noticed the house would be open for tours in about an hour. I got out to walk around and take some pics when Nick said "Let's just go see something else and come back when it opens." ....so I only snapped this ONE terrible picture before leaving and then we never made it back. Nick was in a hurry to go see Dismal Falls that I showed you HERE ....anyways, this house was built in 1829 and is the oldest brick house in Giles County...For more info on the house Click Here ...linking with Rubbish Tuesday .....oh, we got our snow yesterday/last night...about a foot of it! Finally!

Monday Murals - Pearisburg Vignettes

South Main Street . Downtown Pearisburg

Completed in 2009 by artist Jane Bode, these murals depict the history of Pearisburg and surrounding Giles County.

The panels feature early settlers crossing the New River on what was known as Snidow's Ferry...the Andrew Johnson house, built in 1829, still standing today (I'll show you a picture of that tomorrow)...and the old Savoy Hotel as it looked in 1920...the hotel was demolished in the early 60's

Hope everyone had a great weekend. It was gorgeous here. Like spring! Nick was out of town and I took the boys to the rodeo Saturday night then we went and hung out downtown yesterday...just so pretty out!

Rubbish Tuesday - Pearis Theatre

Of course I had to go investigate!

Imagine how awesome these lights must have looked back in the day. This great old place was built in 1939 or 40...have seen mention of both dates.

Not in use as a theatre anymore but getting a new life as a community center.

I'm not gonna lie, this window display kind of creeped me out.

I loved these silver doors and wanted the boys to stand in front for a photo. They did not like the feel of this place and would not stand there. I had to have Nick stand with them. It wasn't until just now, researching the theatre that I found it is "haunted"! If you look into the door to the right, it looks like a small child standing there smiling. I'm sure it's just a weird reflection but a little creepy none-the-less!

I liked the way the sign looked from the other side.

They look like good sports but they really wanted away from there!

Monday Murals - Best of Giles

This one is signed by the arteest. It is located near the courthouse. Remember my rant last week how I couldn't find info on the mural I posted? Well funny, this morning my search found THIS showing 6 murals, the titles and the artist. The only thing they don't show is the location lol (that would be a nice add don't you think?)...anyways, looking at the list I am upset that I didn't see 2 of the murals and also I noticed that there is an additional part of this one painted on the side of the building that we didn't see because we walked straight at it. Searched and searched for info. The town's website has a tab "murals" but only states that there are several murals around town. Hey, I've got an idea, why don't you actually list where the murals are and the artists who painted them! I have a few more to show you from Pearisburg. Linking with Monday Murals
