Watery Wednesday
Dalton's big catch @ Craig Creek. While there on Sunday, we saw so many water snakes, it was crazy. We've seen one or two since we've been going there but they were very active for some reason this past Sunday. Then heading home, Christian, our oldest boy said that his friend told him that Craig Creek is known for having a lot of water snakes. Knowing that we don't have Water Mocassins here, the water snakes don't really bother me like they did in Georgia and Missouri, where we DID have Water Mocs. These little water snakes here are not poisonous, but they did seem aggressive. When Nick dangled his bait right in front of one of the snakes it jumped so quick and bit onto his little fish bait and wouldn't let go. There was another snake swimming in the water and some crazy guys tried to catch him by grabbing onto his tail and that thing took off at double speed. They move quick! Although as much as I don't like snakes, I don't freak out as much anymore when I see them since I am a little more at rest knowing they are just harmless water snakes!

Thanks for sharing. If I'm in your shoes, I'd still freak out even if I know that those snakes are harmless. Just the idea of a snake somewhere near me freaks me out already.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fine host he can be proud of and it will help him remember the occasion. Snakes, harmless or not, slither and seem threatening to me. :-)
ReplyDeletesnakes don't usually bother me, but I think seeing them in water would freak me out. that's a nice size fish he's got there. and the fishing hole looks like a great place to spend a summer afternoon. thanks for visiting my blog, I truly appreciate it. I hope you have a happy Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteThat's a sweet shot. I'm glad there's a fish hanging from that hook and not a snake!
ReplyDeleteOh I don't know but just the name snakes makes me freak out ^_^

What a happy photo! Your a brave person. I have a big fear of snakes ever since I almost got bitten by a rattler.
ReplyDeleteWell you are much braver than me Tanya!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a lot of snakes. I only see them very rarely and have to admit they do fascinate me. Lovely post, thank you.
ReplyDeleteI just worry about the copperheads! Our neighbor was bit by one when gardening a couple of summers ago and spent a week in Roanoke Memorial!
ReplyDeleteEven though they they are harmless, I usually jump a mile when I first see one.
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful to see your boys enjoying summer!
Dalton looks very happy with his catch. I can't help but smile when looking at it. I must admit, though, that I'm not happy around snakes even if they are harmless.
ReplyDeleteQuando vejo a foto do seu cabeçalho tenho vontade de tomar café! A foto deste post é linda! Dá para ver o pobre peixe colorido balançando no ar e o sorriso de satisfação do garoto!
ReplyDeleteGreat watery Wednesday shot! I like the way the fish's colors match the colors around it. :)
ReplyDeleteWe get the occasional non-poisonous snake in the lawn, which don't bother me. Your little guy looks so proud of his catch. :)
ReplyDeleteOh! Don't like those critters at all!
ReplyDeleteHappy to know they are harmless though!
Thanks for sharing your lovely shot. And thanks for visiting and taking the time to comment;o)

Hope you are having a nice and happy week****
We went fishing today too. We don't have water snakes around here. We do have rattle snakes though. Not sure if I'm going hiking with the kids this summer because it's a record year for sanke bites.
ReplyDeleteVery nice photo.
ReplyDeleteRegards!
Great catch, he looks very proud! :-) Lovely photo.
ReplyDeleteA nice catch! Would be glad to have one like that on my Reel.
ReplyDeleteDon't care for snakes around either. There have been times, while out fishing, that water snakes have crossed my path. I'm not a fond person of snakes, but usually I leave them go their own way. This is one reason I carry a .357 with spread shot to eliminate any potential hazard, like those.
However, there are Copperheads around. Usually they can be found in or near wet soggy area's. These should be avoided at all cost. If you smell what smells like "cucumbers" in the air or around you, look & step real careful. Copperheads have been known to have this smell about them! Just some of what I learned during my Hunting years.
