Taken from upstairs at Cornerstone during the St. Pat's Fest on Saturday. See that Center In The Square building over to the right? I'll show you some views from the top tomorrow :)
Linking with Ruby Tuesday Too.
School is on a 1 hour delay today because of ice. The 1 hour delay is completely ridiculous. How will the roads improve in an hour?!

I do believe that Virginia loves festivals! Great view.
ReplyDeletei love your thoughts - around here a lot of the schools are closed completely. i wonder how they will be able to make up all the time or days. they did speak of asking for some kind of request to ignore the days. when i was a kid we had to make up all the days. even when to school on Saturday once to make them up. it was weird going on a Saturday. kind of fun too. different.
ReplyDeletei love your new profile picture. some one needs to fix that festival sign... it is going to fall down. ha. ha!! ( :
This winter has been one for the books! Schools aren't in control of the weather and they do the best they can. It's been difficult for administrators to make the right call. As a former teacher I'm sympathetic to all the conditions that the schools had to work around and support any decisions they have made.
ReplyDeletethat's true....the schools in our county have scheduled state testing today and it's being rumored that that is the reason for only a 1 hour delay. many have been posting on fb about how slick the roads were getting their kids to school. i haven't been out yet to drive but i did have to get something out of my van and the doors were frozen shut!
DeleteI'm interested in how you're getting to the top of these buildings to take pictures...
ReplyDeleteI think Kate is right. Sometimes school administrators can't win for losing. If they don't delay school opening because of ice, lots of folks will be angry. But if they delay too long, then they get heat from others, including members of the school board. :)
But it looks like nice weather. Where's the ice?
i'm spiderman haha...this photo i took was from the second story of a bar/grill. they have these nice big windows they open up...the other building i was talking about allows you up on the roof!...this was taken on saturday, beautiful weather...then snow/ice on sunday!
Deletehope you'll all be safe.
ReplyDeleteGood question. Maybe the number of cars will be reduced in an hour.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the weather cooperated nicely for the celebration. I don't see any heavy coats on.
ReplyDeleteThat building looks so cool! Maybe they are delaying school just so everyone has more time to drive slow and get into school? Sounds frustrating though!
ReplyDeleteIt's cool that you could photograph from up there! Nice view.
ReplyDeleteI am sure this was a fun event. There wasn't much celebrating here in Berlin, besides a very small parade.
ReplyDeleteI was expecting to see plenty of snow! Maybe it missed you. The St Pat's celebrations look grand. Hope you had fun!
ReplyDeleteYou do things really well for St Patrick's day! Only pubs do anything here but I was way too tired to attempt going out yesterday evening, especially on a Monday!
ReplyDeleteThat building is a bit higher, I bet the view is going to be great!
They gave us a 2 hour delay and woke us with a phone call after 5am and then again near 6 and finally later they called it off totally. I don't really understand the decision making logic.
ReplyDeleteI didn't do anything on the real St Pats but worked in the garden when the parade was going on Saturday as the weather was too good to pass up, St. Patrick would understand.
You choose a good spot to take this photo.
ReplyDeleteLovely splashes of red!
ReplyDelete10,000 Crimson Blossoms
You get around, Tanya.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot!
ReplyDeleteVirginia's really had it rough this year. If that were the weather here, we'd just get on with it, but there it's something you're not used to, particularly with how prolonged it has been.
I can't believe the winter you've been having! I do love this sunny glimpse though, hope spring comes roaring in soon:) (Oh, forgot to mention earlier, I remember your Pittsburgh 'pedal powered pubcrawler' too!)
ReplyDeleteYou picked a nice vantage point for this photograph!
ReplyDeleteNice vantage point.
ReplyDeleteSchools here were closed all day. The school system is working to figure out how to make up all the missed time.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo! You really capture the essence of a place with your photos.
Up here we have LOTS of 2 hour delays. These can work and save the day.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great birds eye view!
ReplyDeletePerfect place to view the festivities!
ReplyDeleteAlways liked that word...
ReplyDeleteROG, ABCW
You would't believe the things I can accomplish in an hour…but I certainly can't make road ice melt. :)
