This one is for the fans of aviation...
Not only are the exhibits mind-blowing but I also love the architecture of the museum...
If you noticed the scaffolding you might have guessed that the museum is a work in progress. I believe I read that the final phase will be completed in 2020.

Now for some Willy Nilly time:

1) I'm sorry I am late opening the linky up. Nick brought Dracula home to watch and I was so sleepy afterwards that I just stumbled off to bed...We liked the movie though.

2) Yesterday was another snow day for us. We ended up with maybe 3 inches. Today is another snow day because all that snow turned to ice overnight...it got really cold!

3) Beth asked why we visited this museum, if my husband or myself had been in the military. Nick was in the Marine Corps right after high school. We got married not long after boot camp. We spent our first married years in 29 Palms, CA...I worked in the PX. Although you don't have to have a military background to enjoy this museum! I think anyone would love it!

4) I made THIS RECIPE this week for steak fajitas. It was really good! I have never heard of that restaurant but when I was searching for a recipe, it came up and had quite a few good reviews so I tried it. Happy I did. Everyone liked them.

5) Did you hear Ripley's is phasing out their elephant act? Great news! Read more HERE ...I hope others will follow.

You know the drill...post 5 randoms, link up and visit others! Have a great weekend!!

Linking up with Nancy from a Rural Journal, the Friday 5 visionary (haha)...yes, she's back!! Random 5 Friday

Vote for me please! I think today is the last day!

Need a food break...
Lunch at Tun Tavern which is conveniently located inside the museum! Nick and I had fish and chips and the boys had a Philly Cheesesteak. The only thing that would have made this better would be to serve the beer in the old timey steins...If you are reading this Tun Tavern you have some for sale in the gift shop ;)
A model of the original Tun Tavern which is the "birthplace" of the Marine Corps. It is located in Philadelphia. Sadly it is no longer there but there is a plaque marking the location. We have been there, very hard to locate actually. I'll have to find my pictures....Alrighty then, now that we are refueled we can continue on with our tour...more tomorrow :)

Linking with Signs, Signs & Good Fences ...how many signs and "fences" can you find?

I showed you Belleau Wood yesterday but that went out of order so today I'll take you back to the beginning (I jumped ahead yesterday for murals' sake ha!)
There's our exit...
There it is, up ahead!! Kind of like seeing the Matterhorn pop out when you are heading to Disneyland!
A gung-ho Marine right there
Does the shape of the building remind you of anything?
If you said "Why yes, it reminds me of the flag raising on Iwo Jima" you would be correct...the spire was modeled after that very famous flag raising...
Follow us, we'll show you around inside this week!

The Battle of Belleau Wood exhibit

On Friday afternoon Nick decided for us all to get up early Saturday morning and go see the Marine Corps Museum. He's been wanting to see it badly for some time now. Wow, it is really an incredible museum! We spent about 5 or 6 hours and still didn't get a chance to see it all...we'll make another trip up, maybe in the spring.

Visit the museum's website HERE and CLICK HERE for more on the battle and a virtual tour of the exhibit.
