Breakfast With Santa

This morning Braden and Dalton's school hosted a "Breakfast With Santa" featuring Santa Claus of course and all the pancakes and sausage you can eat!

After filling up on vittles, they went over and saw Santa, told him they want Rock Band for Christmas and received a candy cane.

As we were leaving, I met a mom of twins that I really liked alot and she invited me to join their twin club so I'm excited about that. I belonged to a twin club when Braden and Dalton were first born, but our club was a little on the boring side so I dropped out after a couple of years. I'm looking forward to joining this one and making some new friends!

I was planning on taking the kids to the Fincastle Christmas Parade today but it's very cold out right now and very grey. I'm not sure what kind of weather is in store for us so I'm just kinda seeing how the day goes. I really want to go to The Stonewall Jackson House as they have an old fashioned Christmas there today. I "think" Lexington is about a 45 minute drive from here and we haven't been there yet. Nick works on Saturdays so I'm debating whether or not I want to attempt this on my own seeing as I'm a girl that can get lost in a paper sack. Why does everything always have to be planned on Saturdays?!

Have a great weekend!

  1. Tanya, I think I missed breakfast with Santa this morning, so I can't let my children see your photo! Everything Christmas-y seems to be happening today. We've got our Christmas parade at 5:30, and my son is on one of the floats; otherwise I might skip it, the weather's so cold and drab.

Not sure such a grey day is the best for your first visit to Lexington (You'd be done at Stonewall Jackson House within an hour, I'd guess), but if and when you do come, just follow the signs from exit 185 off I-81 to the Lexington Visitor's Center and park in their lot. The Jackson House is right next door.

  3. I think 45-60 minutes to Lexington is about right.

I hope you go to the Fincastle Parade. It is a nice little parade. But I agree, it is very gray and cold.

  6. It is almost amazing to me that our Civil War pitted so many peoples against each other and then the war ended so many lives on all sides but I suspect the innocent died the most.

Here where I live in Southwestern Ohio, north of Dayton, the home of aviation, the Wright Brothers and Paul Lawrence Dunbar, the poet; it is snowing and has all day. It is 27 degrees F ( -2.7 C)and roads are a mess.

  8. Abraham, my husband had a ggg grandfather on the south and a ggg grandfather on the north. Their children married each other. A sad time in our history.

Thanks Blue Ridge and EG :)

  10. I went to a flag football game between the fire men and police. Part of a toy drive. Did you print up pictures of your kids with Santa? Last year I scanned a picture of my sister and me with Santa and posted it on my site. Strange thats one of the things I still have almost 40 years later, cracked but still around.

  11. I was thinking the same thing--why is everything always on a Saturday around here? My hubby often works Saturdays too. And events overlap. There may not be anything going on one weekend and the next weekend there are three things you want to go to but they are too far from each other.

We were going to go to Roanoke tonight to see the movie, "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" but it is snowing here and I'm afraid the roads will be icy.

  12. I wish we lived close, I would love to go with you to the Stonewall Jackson house. I'm pretty good with directions as long as I am the one driving and have it written down from mapquest lol.
I'm glad the boys enjoyed breakfast with Santa. I don't remember my kids doing that when they were young. I am glad you opt to go to the parade after all It looks like it was fun even if it was cold for you. The twins club sounds like a nice way to make new friends for you and the boys. I hope it works out.

  13. I love these photos with Santa each year - how they grow and change! I have to put a little plug in for Rock Band - we love it! It's the one game our whole family can play together - Dad beats the drums, the boys rock on the guitar and bass, and I sing! (Although some of the lyrics are questionable, which is when I hum.) It's great fun!!
