We stop here occasionally for a burger and fries on our way back home or out on a road trip. Although tonight, weighing heavy on my heart is Ashlyn. She's mad at me. We've had a fight, exchanged some not-so-nice words and I'm feeling horrible. She's almost 20. I thought we were over this kind of tension. Guess not. Times seem different than when I was a teen. My mom and I didn't have a close relationship. Ash and I do. My mom was my "mom". The one who made the rules. The one I sassed and lied to. With Ash and I it has been different. I'm her mom. But I'm also her bud. We share things. I read and hear that you aren't your kids' friend/buddy. But I am. I genuinely like my kids. We laugh and have fun. I guess that makes it hard to draw a line when you are serious. I don't know. Parenting....you're always learning how to do it, right?
