Fenwick Mines

After a major down pour of rain on Saturday, we had to get out Sunday and do some hiking. We ended up at Fenwick Mines which was an iron mining site in back in the 19th century but now has some great walking trails and even a wetland area to walk through!

  1. Bet it will be even prettier when the trees all green up. Did you do any fishing or isn't it allowed?

  2. One of my favorite spots. It's a beautiful place.

  3. yeah di, it wasn't as green out there yet as it is here and yes, you can fish...nick and the boys tried but got nothing...there must not be anything in there right now because there is a little fish food machine and they bought some and threw it out and nothing...last time we were out there the fish ate that food like crazy!

it is such a pretty place anita!

  4. Looks like a nice ole' area to snoop around in. That old Mine hole must be on the deep side and the water is mighty cold. The Mines, or what's left of them, up in the Coal Region Area are somewhat like this. Very deep water. Some of them still have the original machinery on the bottom. My Wife used to swim in places like this when she was in HS. There was no place else to swim.

  5. Looks like a great place for a walk. These kind of places with a wetland offer so much unexpected in the way of birds and sometimes animals. Very nice post.

Hi! I'm so happy you've stopped by and always enjoy your comments :)
