Rubbish Tuesday - 1800's Farm House

This is an old 1800's farm house at The Blue Ridge Institute Farm Museum. We visited a couple of months ago and for some reason this escasped my blog so there are more pics to come this week! My pal over at Sunnybrook Farm knows quite a bit about this place so hopefully he'll fill us in as we go along! Linking with Roan's Rubbish Tuesday :)

  1. That is actually a recreation of the old house, which is identical. Even after replacing some of the logs over the years, the original was becoming unsafe so it isn't used for tours currently. Lots of work went to make the new one a duplicate. There are plans to start using the original kitchen for large groups eventually. The front 3/4 of our farm house has one of these houses under the exterior siding and it still seems solid though I am afraid to look at it. Sorry that I missed you when you were there but who knows we might run into each other at the festival.

    1. I find it interesting that years ago log building were sided, but it helped to protect the logs underneath. Tom The Backroads Traveller
