Good Fences - Potter Wade Mill

When we drove to Lake Robertson on Sunday we took back roads...it was such a scenic drive...crossed over this iron bridge in Collierstown and to the left (depending on which way you are travelling) is this mill:

I found a report online which lists the mill's date as 1746. Seems in rather good shape doesn't it?!

Makes this bridge look like a baby!

Linking up with Tex's Good Fences

And you can read the report on the history of the Upper Buffalo Valley HERE ...hope he got a good grade on it!

  5. It's always a fun adventure driving the backroads and looking out for something unusual. The bridge is a great feat of engineering from way back and the mill is just so pretty! It's wearing very well!

  6. Wow! That's an old mill, and it looks in great shape. Perhaps it was in use in recent history? You have found great stuff here. That bridge could be late 19th or early 20th Century.

  13. That wheel is now completely landlocked. The river's course must have been altered since the mill was built.
