Hobo Style

A couple of weeks ago we had wonderfully warm weather. The boys wanted to cook hot dogs over a camp fire for lunch so we walked down to the creek, gathered some wood and started a little fire. The boys call this way of cooking their hot dogs "hobo style".

Christian had a friend stay the night last night. Right now I have 4 sleeping boys and 1 sleeping girl upstairs and hopefully they will sleep a while longer while I enjoy the quiet and catch up with some blogging friends. Last night the boys were telling ghost stories and looking for secret passages in the walls. They had poor Braden and Dalton scared out of their wits by bed time. They both have a birthday party that I will drop them off at a little later.

The weather has turned cold again and tonight we are expecting some rain/snow showers, through tomorrow morning. No accumulation, just alot of cold.

Have a great weekend :) Stay warm!

  3. Now, which one is Huckleberry Finn? Or do kids read those classics anymore? Cute photo.

  4. I also thought about Huckleberry, althought it's obviously not the same river! Must have been a nice moment!

  5. Love your stories of what your kids have been up to — so fun! Outdoorsy stuff like this is very hard to do when you live in Manila. This is enviable!

When we cousins get together, we still tell ghost stories! Some things never change ;D

  6. I agree with Mom24 - you are a fun mom! My mom never would have gone for that. Nuke it or starve would have been her response, I'm guessing. haha

So did the boys find any secret passages in the walls? :)

  7. That is the only way to fix hot dogs. I remember doing that as a child, I guess fun things never change.

We had about an inch of snow over night.

    Have a fun week-end.

  8. Hi Tanya, thanks so much for your kind comment on my blog. I love this photo of your boys. I used to do stuff like that when I was young, and it's lovely to see that kids still do that sort of thing in this Ipod, cell-phone, video-game age. And I'll bet those hobo hot dogs tasted extra good! I also really like the Skywatch photo below it--beautiful!

  9. I remember when my boys were that size and loved camp fires. They are all grown up and still love it when they come down to the country.
Our weather was very cold last night for middle Ga.
I can't wait until real spring time.
    Have a great weekend.

I'm sure you're a great mother to allow your children to do all they do, my words are not the good ones to say it but I hope you catch what I mean :-))

  21. I like the term hobo style. Did they carry their supplies wound up in a bandana on the end of a stick? :)
