Is it still open? I hope so! These small hardware stores are closing because of Lowe's and Home Depot. And I'll tell you something...the employees of our little hardware store know so much, and give us so much more help than the huge stores. They are smart and experienced. Some of the ones at Lowes are teenagers and seem to know nothing about the business at all.
i looked it up and no, it has closed :( it had been in business since 1897 and closed last year...i sure hope someone buys it and is able to get it going again. Here's a story i found about the closing http://www.newsadvance.com/news/local/bedford-hardware-set-to-close/article_ecf8075e-e480-11e4-bc2a-63c727fec108.html the owner talks about how people would come to him last trying to find things...makes me remember to try these places first...
Beautiful b&w picture, Tanya !
ReplyDeleteThat is a great sign. I fondly remember the old hardware stores. We have lost most of them.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a scene from one of the good ol' westerns!
ReplyDeleteNice b&w, Tanya. It reminds me a lot of Cedar Key's Main Street.
ReplyDeleteI love old main streets, much prefer them to shopping malls.

DeleteWhat a great image and I love it in B&W. One person crossing the road, right place at the right time to be in this wonderful image. Well done, Tanya!
ReplyDelete...they are becoming less common these days.
ReplyDeleteGreat B&W!
ReplyDeleteBlack and white works very well, Tanya!
ReplyDeleteLove the black and white. This reminds me of the little town my grandparents lived in when I was a kid!
ReplyDeleteI really like this in B&W!
ReplyDeleteNice nostalgic feel to this.
ReplyDeleteNice photo in black and white. The street is so quiet and very clean.
