Fire Station #7 . Memorial Avenue . Roanoke
Trojan Dog was created in 2008 as part of a city-wide public art initiative, "A.I.R" : Art in Roanoke".
The original doggie was meant to be temporary and made of wood. A woman climbed up on his back one night after leaving a bar (you do the math) and knocked off his head. Trojan Dog #2 is much more sturdy and now a part of Roanoke's permanent art collection.

...now built for a bigger drunk woman?
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful sight that is!
ReplyDeleteThat's funny- I'm glad they sturdied him up!
ReplyDeleteHope the dog stays there for many years to come!
ReplyDeleteI am thankful for all the dogs in my past, for our current dog, and maybe there will be more dogs in the future!
Now that is a fine looking dog. Sorry to hear of the distraction of art involving the first one. Hope people keep their hands off this one. You photo brought a big smile.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE him!!! Too bad there's a bar close by.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great "sculpture." It's too bad the guy who knocked off his head didn't instead fall on his head. Maybe that would have knocked some sense into him!
ReplyDeleteCan't go wrong with dog art. I love this, nice one Tanya.
ReplyDeleteI like this! Drunk people need to stay off of statuary. Seriously. Thanks for linking up today!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo and love the dogs and all dogs ^_^
ReplyDeleteTHIS is so great!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a neat looking dog statue. How crazy can people be.
