This beautiful old courthouse was built in 1824 with additions added throughout the years. It is home to the MHC Historical Society and the Heritage Center and Museum....I'm a big dummy because I didn't know that until now....would have liked to go inside! Oh well...next time!
I found this great link which shows slides of the courthouse and descriptions Click Here to view.

...I often do a poor job of planning my photo trips and can miss the big picture! Courts houses often have a special look and this one sure does. Thanks Tanya for stopping by, enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteNice building and even better that it has been preserved.
ReplyDeleteHi Tanya, I have enjoyed your Martinsville posts. We were there last year and I took photos of a couple of the murals. It is definitely a town I would like to revisit. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteA beauty of a building. I sometimes forget to find the name of the building so I end up searching for it and most of the times I can find something on it. Nice that this one has been preserved.
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful, stately building. Nice photo.
ReplyDeleteThat was an excellent link Tanya, I loooove seeing old black and whites of original buildings like this 💙
ReplyDeleteAn impressive building, Tanya.
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteInteresting. It's a long way to Martinsville from here but we drove through once on the way to North Carolina.
