Blue Ridge

This is the view from my driveway this morning...it's a rainy-ish grey day but look at that red tree blooming over there to the right would ya?!! Every day brings a little more color! That mountain straight ahead is part of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Blue Ridge Parkway runs right through there...it's a pretty way to get places!

Can We Just Get a Good Snow??? Please???!!!

Botetourt County

For a couple of weeks the weather people have been talking about this past weekend's snow potential..."this could give us several inches" they said..."this will be a substantial storm with accumulating snow" they said...then cue the rain and we ended up with a slushy, icy mess...so annoying! We got a snow day out of it today but I would love to see something more than a dusting or ice! See, Ozzy isn't even impressed...

Did you watch the Superbowl last night? We didn't really have a team in it this year but just assumed the Patriots would win so it was nice to see the Eagles get their first Superbowl win!

If you stopped by here for Willy Nilly on Friday I apologize for not getting it going...it was the boys 16th birthday and the morning/day/night got away from me!

Now I'm going to go watch the This Is Us finale...I already know this is going to kill me!

Frozen

On Saturday we took the boys and Ozzy out to Day Creek in Blue Ridge...It's a nice area for Ozzy to get a walk and Nick wanted to see how frozen the creek was since we've had all this wintry weather...

Dalton testing it out, looking a bit like Bambi haha

Now he's got his balance...

Crack, crack, crack went the ice...he jumped back quick! No worries, even if he did fall in it wasn't deep!

Ozzy has the hang of it!

We've had a nice warm weekend so I'm sure it has all thawed out by now! Linking up with Mersad's Through My Lens

On Saturday we had another track meet, JV Invitational held at Heritage High School in Lynchburg...Braden and Dalton's relay team for the 4x200 won the Silver! Dalton also won a Silver in the Hurdles!

Downtown Roanoke

Friday was the 3rd and last Dickens of a Christmas for the year...The boys and I went down there along with Dalton's girlfriend...a trip to Benny's for a slice of pizza for dinner and then the candy store for some dessert! There was a dog costume contest we tried to watch but it was so crowded we couldn't see a thing...there were lots of cute dogs walking around though :)

Day Creek . Blue Ridge

Yesterday Nick and I took Ozzy for a little hike around Day Creek. We come here fairly often, usually when I need some rocks to paint for the rock group I'm in...Dalton wasn't feeling well so Braden stayed home to play XBox take care of him if he needed anything...I kept him home from school today...hopefully all this extra rest will have him back to regular!

Glass enclosed pedestrian bridge . Roanoke

I've probably shown you this view a few times but I can never resist to take a picture when I'm here...I love how everything reflects in the glass of the pedestrian bridge and downtown always looks so colorful...the mountain straight ahead is Mill Mountain where the STAR is...

Fall has arrived in my little corner of Virginia! I'll show you up and down my street...this is what I see when I walk out my front door...
My neighbor's house...
Looking down my street...
Looking the other way down my street...if it was a clear day you would be able to see the Blue Ridge Mountains...but the fog covered them up!
Ozzy really, really loves the cooler temperatures!

High School Football

Northside High School . Roanoke

Last week Lord Botetourt High School (us) took on Northside, a huge rival, and won 42-14...less controversy watching high school than the NFL these days...oh my!

My boys are certainly learning this!

The Love Bug

Boone's Mill . Franklin County

On Saturday we went to the Boone's Mill Apple Festival ...maybe I am missing something because I didn't see any apples but I did see Herbie and that's kind of better right?!

I found this groovy old Love Bug trailer from 1969!

Isn't this clip so wholesome?!

I remember seeing this film as a kid and then the remake with my kids! I should see if I can find the original online to watch with the kids...I doubt they would appreciate it though...

Sunday At The Salem Fair

Salem Fair . Salem

This is the view from the top of the Ferris Wheel. I love the view from up here. Not a lot of people yet, probably too hot. It gets more crowded at night. The tall ride to the left is the Super Shot (if you click the link there are some videos you can watch of it if you don't know what it is). I always have to ride that one at least once, which we did. After we got our fill of rides we let the boys stay and we went home, chilled for a bit, went out for dinner then went back and got the boys. It was a nice day :)

Wingless Takes Flight

Wilson Hughes Gallery. 117 Campbell Ave SW . Roanoke . 24011

This wall on the side of the gallery is pretty awesome...all different work from different artists. I knew this one had to be a Toobz Muir painting when I saw it. His work is so unique. You might remember some of his stuff I've shown you HERE

About this one, taken from his website:
"Wingless takes flight"

Concept: Children teaching little birds how to take flight before they realize that they already have the power to leave the nest. 2010
