Unknown General Store

Nace . Botetourt County

I can't find anything on this other than someone else had taken a few pictures and had it labeled as "Abandoned General Store" and that the locals said the floors are collapsing so no one has been in there for years...

These pictures were taken on a very cold day last month!

  1. Hi Tanya! This place looks more like a house than a store. And from the outside it doesn't look all that bad. I wonder if people live in those structures behind the store?

  2. I was thinking the same thing as Lowell. It does look like a house, but then I saw the old Coca-cola sign over the steps. It could have been one of those old stores where the owners lived upstairs over the store. My grandparents had a store like that when I was growing up, except it was all one floor and they lived in the back part of the building.

  3. ...lots of treasure of history seem to lose their story. There are lots of 'unknown treasures' out there. Thanks Tanya for sharing this one.

  5. Wow, what a cool find! Shame the inside is in such bad shape since it looks like a nice solid brick building.

  6. Love it! Wish it was restored! I can just see the older men settled around the woodburning stove, whittling and telling stories!

  8. This reminds me of a general store I saw (and photographed) a couple of weeks ago in a poor, rural part of Florida. It reminds me that lots of people live VERY different lives from the life I live.

  9. What a treasure. Guessing they did business on the first floor and lived above the store.
